Although some manufacturers prefer to get things going with their own lower end models first, Volvo is doing this a bit differently. They started with the top quality XC90 and followed shortly with the S90, V90 and more recently, the 2017 Volvo V90 Cross Country.
The latter has been exposed only a few weeks ago and it is, by far, probably the most interesting cars to be revealed recently. Such as its name suggests, the Cross Country is the somewhat upgraded version of the regular V90 truck. These upgrades mostly happen underneath the vehicle but its exterior has also been slightly altered to make room for the extra parts.
2017 VOLVO V90 CROSS COUNTRY PRICE
It still is a tad too early to say anything about this. However , Volvo was confident enough and revealed the state pricing scheme for the car. The base product will start at just over $56, 000 that is roughly $3, 000 more than the regular V90.
There are a few available packages out there as well that will add quite a bit of value to the car. Probably the most interesting aspects about the pricing scheme is the fact the car has only been announced within the T6 trim level so far.
The regular V90 is actually expected to cost more than that which makes all of us think that the base V90 Cross Country will also be obtainable in an announced T5 at the price point recommended by Volvo.
UNDER THE HOOD
Even though the 2017 Volvo V90 Cross Country is more expensive, as well as heavier, than the V90, it gets the identical engines. In fact it shares the same motors as the other 90-series cars.
The T5 should get a 2 liter turbocharged inline 4 with 250 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. The T6 however will add supercharging on top for up to 316 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. All wheel drive is expected to be offered because standard.

However , this may not be the case for the base T5 engine, so it remains to be seen closer to the discharge date. Both engines will get an 8 speed automatic as standard. The Western market will also add two diesel motors on top of the two petrol engines mentioned above.
The hybrid is also expected to be offered at 1 point or another. This should combine the T6 powerplant with an electric motor for a complete output of 400 horsepower and 472 lb-ft of torque.
HOW DOES IT LOOK
Some could say odd but all of us do think the 2017 Volvo V90 Cross-country is a unique car. This is both negative and positive. There are buyers out there who do prefer these kinds of cars but it doesn’t appeal to everyone. It provides the exact same body shape as the regular V90 truck.
2017 Volvo V90 Cross Country Exterior
But the Cross Country is noticeable taller compared to its sibling and it does add a large amount of plastic cladding on the sides. This should safeguard it from rocks and debris. The actual wheels are bigger as well and with the accompanied by a the restyled front and rear bumpers, it should be just as good as a true crossover off the road.
However , the car will definitely much better on the road where it has the advantage of a low middle of gravity and a really aerodynamic form.
There are no surprises right here. The V90 Cross Country is identical towards the S90 and V90 cars. It functions the same dashboard with the large center display screen and really minimalistic look.
Also, even though it is a crossover, it offers just as much space as the V90 truck. The only drawback we see would be when using it off-road and making it dirty that doesn’t look as good on a wagon since it does on a crossover.
